The more expensive buildings give you more money. The order of least to most expensive is: Hackett, 9/10, Lindy, Mow, Weinstein. When you have enough money you can buy an aquatics center. The aquatics center rebirths you, bringing your money and number of buildings down to 0 and makes the next aquatics center more expensive, but everything becomes 2 - 3 times more efficient.
